Tape Baking
Aged tapes are often unable to be played without first going through our tape baking process. The affected tapes are placed in a special oven and heated to our specifications in order to dry any accumulated moisture. The end result is a tape that temporarily ceases to exhibit shedding (known as sticky-shed syndrome) and can be properly read by a videotape machine. Our tape baking process is often successful though some tapes are beyond recovery. Some formats commonly needing baking include 2" Quad, 1", 3/4" U-Matic, and BetacamSP.
Tape Cassette Reconditioning and Rehousing
Colorlab offers tape repair and rehousing for tapes which have been physically damaged or run off their spool.
